Corrections, Updates, and Retractions

AesthetiFact treats accuracy as its core product. This page explains how we handle errors and new evidence.

Reporting an error

Anyone may report a suspected error, including patients, physicians, and researchers. Reports can be submitted through the question box on any page or via the About page. We review every report.

How corrections work

Minor corrections such as typos and formatting are fixed without a notice.

Substantive corrections, meaning a changed number, a changed interpretation, or a changed evidence grade, are fixed promptly and the page's last reviewed date is updated. Where a correction changes the practical meaning of an answer, we add a correction note to the page.

Retractions. If an answer is found to rest on retracted research or cannot be supported by the literature, we remove or rewrite it. If the underlying source was retracted, we say so.

Evidence refresh

Medical evidence changes. Pages display the date they were last reviewed. When significant new studies alter the strength of the evidence for a claim, we update the claim's grade in our central registry, which updates every page that relies on it.
